Isn't this just beautiful?
In real life it isn't quite as nice as in the picture - the finish is a bit rough/dull, and they took the picture from the most attractive angle, but I still love the thing.
First thing I did was rub it with babyoil all over, and that helped a good bit with the finish.
At $195 it is pretty reasonable too.

A twisty stool that can function as an end table or just can be a great decorative piece for any room. Tall enough to be used as a stool, side table, or as a sculptural pedestal to display your favorite objects or plants! (via vivaterra.com)

This is some cool multi-purpose furniture. Carved from a single piece of wood, the Twisty Stool can be used as an end table, stool, or plant/sculpture pedestal base. It's very portable as well.

Another nice looking table/stool from VivaTerra. Should I get this one or Reclaimed Teak Keyhole Table?
