When it comes to spring fashion, 70's preppies had it completely right. You want your clothes to make you feel economically powerful and fancy-free - and you want them to look good on the deck of a small yacht, just in case that happens to come up. The classic Sperry Top Sider is all that, in comfortably contoured buttery leather. ($59.95 at sperrytopsider.com)

my mom came home with a pair of sperrys, an unfamiliar shoe to me at the time. As i gazed at the box the shoes were cradled in the logo sperry and the the words "get wet" underneath caught my eye. as i began to wear my sperrys around and did more research on them i learned that they are mainly used as boat shoes which i absolutly love. These shoes come in leather, nubuck, suede and canvas none of which afraid to interfere with a little water. these dont require socks and the main purpose for which is to refrain from socks to get that true fisherman feel.

These are in trend right now in stores. I actually even have a pair myself I bought years ago while traveling for comfort. Mine are beige and of course a women's shoe. Sperry I def. recommend.

One might consider wearing these for a trip to Bali.

as a guy, i would definately need a classic boat shoe for more formal occasions. i know boat shoes aren't typically right for formal attire, but they're better than sneakers.
