Amenity Nursery Woods Organic Crib Bedding

First to recommend

3 people recommended this item

Description

Amenity has come out with a new nursery collection that really make me want to be a kid again. Actually, I suppose you don’t need to be a kid to appreciate the simplicity of the woodsy images and very natural color palette. Think Bambi but with a contemporary flare. The blankets, crib sets, pillows and prints are made of organic cotton printed with low impact dyes. The pillow inserts are even filled with spun, recycled plastic bottles, manufactured locally. You don’t get more modern/eco-friendly than that! (via Design Public)

looolo Janthur Cushions

First to recommend

Description

I am an absolute sucker for textured textiles so looolo’s pillows and blankets are right up my alley. Why have plain, even pillows when you can find one with a bed of tightly packed ruffles? Or rows of perfectly placed tabs? Or interesting bumps directly down the center? Her pillows encourage touch rather than simply something pleasant to look at.

What’s more…how many pillows can you think of that can be safely composted? ? I don’t think I have ever uttered that phrase before in my life. Joanna Notkin considered every environmental aspect possible when designing her pieces so they leave as little an imprint on our earth as possible. There are no zippers or other non-biodegradable closures on the cushions, the wool yarns and fabric are all organic, the pillows are stuffed with Indonesian kapok (a fiber from the Ceiba tree seed pod), and the dyes are free of toxic chemicals. If only more things in this world would have a similar claim. If only. (via Design Public)

Salvor Fauna Kids Long Sleeve T Shirt - Blue Lightning

First to recommend

Description

Every few days a number of us at DP question whether we can fit into a child’s size 8 in order to sport the highly desired Salvor Fauna Lightning kids t-shirts. I would actually place a bet that some day soon one of us will crack and try to squeeze into a shirt. Calling all bets! Calling all bets! (via Design Public)

InModern Linear Coffee Table

Description

InModern wins a gold star in my book. They have mastered the art of three very difficult things: 1.) They create pieces that can be put together and taken apart without tools or hardware. Missing a screw? Yes, you should be. All of their pieces are like easy puzzles pieces in furniture format. Unbelievable. 2.) They are about as environmentally conscious as you can get. I can count a good handful of ways that make their pieces sustainable: FSC/Rainforest Alliance Certified SmartWood, 100% formaldehyde-free, 100% non-toxic, water-based stains, UV cured finish to minimize greenhouse gases, and all pieces are shipped flat to conserve packaging and reduce waste. 3.) From a design perspective their pieces are amazing. (via Design Public)

looolo Windows Blanket

First to recommend

Description

The name LoooLo is a visual representation of "100%", symbolizing their commitment to every aspect of the design process – from using organic materials during development, to consideration of the environmental footprint their products leave. LoooLo sources the best organic fibers, dyes with the least environmental footprint and manufacturers who respect the philosophy behind the products. All looolo textiles products can be safely composted at the end of their useful life.

LoooLo blankets are made by hand using Climatex Lifecycle yarns (certified organic wool/ramie and toxin-free dyes) from Switzerland. Using special knitting techniques to render textures found in nature, these luxury pieces are quite unique. Wrap yourself up! (via Design Public)

iglooplay Mod Rocker

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

Lisa Albin of iglooplay sets the bar really high with her Mod Rocker. 1.) It totally rocks both in motion and visually. I absolutely love the aesthetics of it. 2.) iglooplay uses eco-friendly sourced North American hardwood veneers. 3.) It is made in the US of A. 4.) It can hold beyond 450 lbs so I can sit on it and it won’t collapse. 4.) It is up there as one of the greatest little modern rockers I have seen. I suppose the only thing I see as an issue with the rocker is that it is too small…I want one tall enough for myself! Kids are so lucky these days. (via Design Public)

Spot On Square Hiya Crib

First to recommend

Description

Bob and Nicole Springer of Spot on Square have succeeded in providing the next generation of designers (a.k.a. today’s wee ones) the perfect foundation to learn from. Their Hiya series and animal wall art are the essence of clean and simple without compromising quality, safety or the environment. It is more important now than ever for children to grow up in a serene environment, and Spot on Square is the perfect first step in creating that space. (via Design Public)

Aidan Olive Zen Outdoor Bench

First to recommend

Description

It is currently a bit frigid in our SF office, but seeing the image of Aidan Olive’s Zen Outdoor Bench gives me hope and confidence that things will be brighter and warmer someday soon. Yes, the Zen Outdoor Bench sparks a craving for the warmth of a sunny day, sitting in a park and reading a good book or eating a leisurely meal al fresco. I suppose we need a little of the cold to truly appreciate the luxury of time spent sitting on a Zen Outdoor Bench in pleasant weather. (via Design Public)
